A summary of the main points of Andrew Goodwin's (nikolas) (blog 5)

Andrew Goodwin believes that music videos tend to have subjects that are mentioned within a said song, lyrics.
He believes that videos are built around song lyrics and not traditional narrative structures.
He also mentions that 'the singer' is used in the videos as both narrator and character, an example of when this was used would be Michael Jackson 'Thriller'

In this clip Michael Jackson tells both a story along with lyrics which meets the exact idea that Andrew Goodwin believes. The title thriller also links with the music video as it was about dead zombies coming to life as he tells a story.

He also talks about singers breaking the fourth wall within music videos by looking directly into the camera, which involves the viewers at home.

He also believes that music videos tend to use content within the songs that relate to the genre of the song. For example Indie music tends to have a band performing live as they sing their songs, and music videos for rappers tend to have very fast, luxurious cars, money and women.
